Epidemic infectious gastrointestinal illness aboard U.S. Navy ships deployed to the Middle East during peacetime operations- 2000-2001

The article conducted a retrospective analysis of weekly reported data on non-combat illness and injury collected in 2000-2001 from 44 US Navy ships while sailing in the 5th Fleet (Persian Gulf and nearby seas). Gastrointestinal Infectious Disease (IGI) outbreaks have been reported on U.S. Navy vessels and have the potential to adversely affect the mission.
